DIANA’S PRIORITIES

Championing Student Success

Diana knows that every student has unique goals. Whether training for a specific job, building a career or working to transfer to a four-year college, Diana is dedicated to providing all students with the support they need to succeed, including mental health and disability accommodations. She’s a strong advocate for dual-enrollment programs, allowing high school students to earn college credits and get a head start on their educational journey.

Creating Inclusive Spaces

Diana believes our colleges should reflect the diversity and vibrancy of our communities. Diana will ensure that our colleges are welcoming and inclusive, promoting critical thinking and respectful discourse while upholding free speech. She believes in fostering environments where all students feel valued and supported.

Building Career Pathways

Diana is committed to workforce development. She aims to create a pipeline to good paying, high-road jobs that offer family-supporting wages and a path to the middle class. By developing career pathways to local jobs, Diana will ensure students have access to sustainable and rewarding employment opportunities.

Promoting Collaboration

Diana values collaboration. She will work to build strong partnerships between students, faculty, staff, the board and the wider community. Together, we can all achieve the 4CD mission: “to change lives by providing outstanding learning opportunities, nurturing and empowering all students to achieve their educational goals.”

Diana will also enhance opportunities for community input, drawing on her extensive experience in intersectional spaces like Contra Costa County’s Measure X Community Advisory Board, Multi-Faith Action Coalition and Moms Demand Action.

Breaking Down Barriers

Diana is passionate about making education accessible to all. She’s committed to identifying and eliminating barriers to enrollment, ensuring that community colleges are open to everyone — LGBTQI+ individuals, neurodiverse students, disabled students, and those from BIPOC, rural, low-income and non-English speaking communities.

Ensuring Quality and Affordability

Diana is dedicated to maintaining high standards of education while keeping it affordable. She will work to attract and retain top-tier faculty and staff and advocate for necessary infrastructure improvements to enhance the educational experience.
